On March 6, 2024, Eurasian Harm Reduction Association (EHRA) took part in a panel discussion on human rights and the HIV response at the 58th session of the Human Rights Council. Urgent concerns about shrinking civic space, repressive laws, and funding restrictions in Eastern Europe & Central Asia—barriers that endanger lives and fuel discrimination against key populations were raised.
EHRA called on the international community to act now:
– Protect civil society & human rights defenders
– Ensure sustainable funding for community-led HIV responses
– Condemn laws that criminalize activism & life-saving services
– Support decriminalization & rights of key populations.
